Miscarriage Treatment Dubai : Gynaecology Doctors in Dubai For Getting Pregnant After a Miscarriage and How to Reduce the Risk of a Repeated Miscarriage. Miscarriage is the natural loss of a baby in its mother’s womb before 24 weeks and may happen even without a woman being aware that she is pregnant. This usually occurs in the first trimester (13 weeks) of pregnancy. Symptoms include vaginal spotting or bleeding, abdominal pain or cramping, and fluid or tissue passing from the vagina. If you have any of these symptoms, you should call your doctor, who may do an ultrasound exam and a pelvic exam to confirm miscarriage.

Miscarriage is a genuine concern for expectant parents. If any woman has three or more miscarriages, it is referred to as repeated miscarriage or habitual abortion. 15 to 20 percent of all pregnancies result in miscarriages – and they usually occur within first three months of pregnancy.

Most miscarriages are caused due to genetic abnormalities that occur by chance and are not related to the mother’s or father’s health. Other causes include infection, certain medications, hormonal effects, structural abnormality of the uterus, and disease conditions such as severe kidney disease, congenital heart disease and uncontrolled diabetes.

Miscarriage Treatment in Dubai

Miscarriage is a genuine concern for expectant parents. If any woman has three or more miscarriages, it is referred to as repeated miscarriage or habitual abortion. 15 to 20 percent of all pregnancies result in miscarriages – and they usually occur within first three months of pregnancy. In many women, no cause may be found; though in some, repeated miscarriages may occur due to some specific underlying causes:

  1. Advanced age: being more than 35 years
  2. Genetic (chromosomal) causes
  3. Autoimmune factors: immune response of the body against substance normally present in the body
  4. Structural defects of the uterus or cervix
  5. Certain blood disorders like thrombophillia (increased tendency of the blood to clot)

It is also important for the couple to know that normal level of exercise, sexual intercourse, lack of sleep or rest, stress, vomiting and minor trauma do not lead to repeated miscarriages.

If there is history of three or more miscarriages, the odds of having an underlying cause are high. It is always better to see an obstetrician, who has experience in looking after high-risk pregnancy cases. Most of the obstetricians are familiar with the proven and accepted causes of repeated miscarriage, but if some cause is found out during investigations like genetic or autoimmune cause, it is always better that you are being reviewed by a foetal medicine expert.

If you have undergone repeated miscarriages, it is always better to have prenatal care in an institution, where healthcare providers needed to handle your case are available.

Testing for Repeated Miscarriage

  • You may have to undergo a few blood tests, to find out the cause for repeated miscarriage.
  • Parental chromosomal analysis is important to find out genetic causes.
  • You may also be tested for the presence of lupus antibodies, which are a marker of autoimmune disorder.
  • Be ready for hysterosalpingography (a procedure where a dye is pushed through the cervix into the uterus), if required.
  • Hysteroscopy (inserting a tiny telescope through the cervix to see inside of the uterus) to find out if there are structural defects of uterus or cervix is also a normal enough procedure.
Still, in many cases, in spite of all such investigations, the reasons for repeated miscarriages might not be found out.
  • If your test results indicate a genetic problem in either you or your partner, you can know the exact risk of recurrence. The usual risk is 25 percent or lesser, but can be up to 100 percent in selected conditions, when you may have to go for alternative methods of conception.
  • In case of medical problems like autoimmune diseases or endocrinological disorders, you may need to take some drugs before conception, which may be continued throughout pregnancy.
  • Structural defects of the uterus are usually correctable by surgery, but if that is not possible, the only option may be surrogacy (getting another lady’s womb for your baby to grow in).
  • It is quite possible that your obstetrician may not be able to tell you for sure regarding the outcome of next pregnancy. Even if one is not able to find out the exact cause for repeated miscarriage, there is still a good chance (one in four) of carrying the pregnancy to term and delivering a normal baby. Most of the miscarriages are preventable so always try to have a positive attitude, eat well and exercise regularly. Prayer might keep you buoyant in spite of your situations. Hopefully, you will be holding a baby in your arms and the distressing experience of miscarriage may soon become a thing of the past.

Getting Pregnant After a Miscarriage and How to Reduce the Risk of a Repeated Miscarriage

Naturally there may be concerns and queries regarding the complications, next pregnancy, life style changes and much more. Miscarriage brings grief, depression and anguishes to the family. Emotionally it takes some time for the guilty feeling and mental pain to subside and get prepared for a new conception. Physically after a miscarriage, a woman is capable of bearing child once the normal menstrual period returns. Typically it takes about 2-3 months for the body to completely recover from the effects even after a complicated miscarriage.

If the uterus and endometrial lining are not healthy and strong enough to conceive and carry the baby to term, then there is a chance for a repeated miscarriage. Proper rest and life style modifications under the guidance of an expert gynaecologist could definitely help you to come out with successful pregnancies in future.

If a woman had a miscarriage which is of spontaneous type without any profuse bleeding, the ovulation will recover soon after 3 or 4 months. Miscarriages are mostly complete and in the absence of any signs of infections such as foul smelling discharges, prolonged bleeding or fever, you have not to concern about any issues related to next pregnancy after your pregnancy wastage. If you had undergone curettage or any instrumentation in uterus or in case of any retained products in the womb then you may have prolonged bleeding resulting in the delayed fall in hcG levels and thus slowing down of ovulation period.

Typically a miscarriage may not cause infertility. The aetiology of major miscarriages does not include fertility issues. Chronic illnesses, bad habits, chromosomal abnormalities, rubella infection etc are the major problems causing miscarriages.

Therefore appropriate treatment and care of the pregnant lady could help to lessen the rate of miscarriages.

Once you are ready to conceive for the next baby, you should be aware of certain dietary as well as lifestyle adjustments. The most important thing that one should keep in mind while planning for a pregnancy after a miscarriage is regarding regular health check ups and healthy diet.

Follow strict bed rest as far as possible. Avoid unnecessary use of drugs and take folic and iron supplementation regularly. Exercise regularly under the guidance of an obstetrician and make use of stress management techniques like yoga, meditation etc. Try to avoid the intake of alcohol and caffeine. All these will surely reduce the risk of getting a repeated miscarriage.

  1. Miscarriage is normally referred to the termination of pregnancy prior to 24 weeks of gestation. At this time, the immature embryo is not capable of surviving on its own in the world outside the mother’s womb. The lungs and other organs are not mature enough to cope with the external environment even in the presence of intensive care units and the lung maturing drugs etc.

Miscarriage mostly starts as repeated spotting or bleeding during pregnancy. This is termed as the ‘threatened abortion’. Sometimes it may happen suddenly due to an early onset of labor and delivery.

Miscarriage can also be diagnosed during the ultrasound examination during pregnancy or through the serial monitoring of levels of the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in blood. Pregnant women having a previous history of miscarriage are particularly at risk and are carefully monitored during pregnancy in order to prevent any possible cause to occur again.

Some women develop cervical incontinence during pregnancy whereby, the cervix becomes incontinent to carry the baby and the products of conception are expelled out of the body quite at an early stage. If a woman bears the risk of cervical incontinence, then she is advised a strict bed rest to avoid any excessive strain. But this is for the mild cases. In cases where there is an increased risk of cervical incontinence, sometimes surgical sutures are considered which help to retain the embryo inside the mother’s womb and thus prevent miscarriage.

There are different causes of miscarriage for the first two trimesters of pregnancy as after 24 weeks of gestation, there is no miscarriage.

If the embryo has any chromosomal abnormality, there are about 95% chances of having a miscarriage during the first trimester. Another reason for losing pregnancy during the first trimester is a lack of progesterone. Women having a decreased level of this hormone during pregnancy are particularly at a higher risk of undergoing miscarriage.

Women having uterine anomalies are at greater risk of going to miscarriage. These include the fibroids or benign tumors of uterus. Problems of umbilical cord or the placenta may also contribute to the miscarriage during second trimester.

Multiple pregnancies have particularly a higher risk for miscarriage. Multiple pregnancies are the twin pregnancies, or pregnancies carrying even more of the embryos. Uncontrolled diabetes is another factor. Gestational diabetes is the type of diabetes occurring during pregnancy. Women suffering with the gestational diabetes must have their sugar levels under normal limits in order to prevent such complications.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is another cause in which there are multiple cysts on ovaries. Other risk factors include hypertension, eclampsia, pre-eclampsia, hypothyroidism, tobacco intake, alcohol intake, cocaine or antidepressant drugs etc.

Miscarriage is a shock for both the parents. It can be prevented in only the cases with preventable causes. Otherwise pregnancies like those having chromosomal abnormalities or other such factors cannot be prevented from going to miscarriage. If it happens, both the parents need support and consolation from the doctors, family, friends and relatives. The medical evaluation is not stopped after a miscarriage. The mother and the expelled embryo or fetus is investigated for the possible causes of this mishap in order to properly recognize the cause and treat the mother accordingly. In this way, prior to next conception, the possible risk factors are ruled out.

Miscarriage also disturbs a mother both emotionally and psychologically. She needs a great support especially from her spouse, the doctors and family in order to take her out of this traumatic experience.

  2. Many women think that getting pregnant after miscarriage is mostly wishful thinking. But nothing is impossible if your reproductive system is normal and still functioning. Most women who experienced miscarriage often suffer emotionally and they are frightened by the possibilities of another miscarriage if they try to get pregnant again.

If you are in this situation right now, it is best to think positive and to think of the ways that can help you increase your chances of getting pregnant after miscarriage. There are steps that you can take in order to understand its possible causes and use the information in preventing possible problems when you try to conceive again.

Since the endocrine system is quite near the uterus, any problem may likely affect a woman’s pregnancy. In worst cases, problems in the endocrine system might trigger miscarriage. If you suspect that you have problems in the endocrine system, it is best to consult your doctor even before you get pregnant to look for possible solutions if ever any symptoms will occur.

Problems or abnormalities in the uterus can affect the developing fetus and may lead to miscarriage. By consulting your doctor for any remedy or recommended medication, you have the chance of stopping the problem at the onset.

One of the main infections that most women do not want to occur during pregnancy is UTI (urinary tract infection). Together with UTI, other infections may weaken a woman’s body which in turn makes it unfit to conceive a baby.

You can undergo check-up to find out if you have any form of infection to avoid miscarriage once you have conceived. Your doctor may give you some antibiotics to kill the infections and most of these meds are safe as you try getting pregnant after miscarriage.

Chromosomal imbalance is caused by incomplete chromosomes which can affect the developing fetus as well as cause miscarriage in women. If you have a history of chromosomal imbalance in your family, you may need to seek your doctor’s advice to find out if you are at high risk. Medications and other treatments are available, so do not hesitate while you can still prevent this problem before pregnancy.

A woman who has problems with her immune system may already have other health issues present. It is better to treat this potential threat before you get pregnant to prevent miscarriage and more health problems. Your doctor may advice you to take immuno-boosters to strengthen your body inside and out. This is also a great chance for you to prepare your body prior to conception.

Pregnancy is one of women’s greatest accomplishments because giving birth to a healthy child also means that she is healthy overall. But for those who are planning on getting pregnant after miscarriage, the stress, anxiety and uncertainty lingers because of such unfortunate circumstance. But a miscarriage can also be helpful in terms of identifying a woman’s possible health issues other than just problems in her reproductive system.
